Cheryl Maeder is intuitively linked toeverything in the world around her and u.s.a.. Now is our risk to see a variety of her works which focus on relatedness. She speaks for Mother Nature, every bit a guide to all of u.s.. The core of Cheryl Maeder's piece of work is nearly "connectedness"; the connection to the cocky, each other and to all life forms on this planet.  Information technology is Maeder'south philosophy, that we humans are non only of this earth, we are also continued to the broader universe.  It is this concept that permeates throughout her limited edition photographs and video installations…

"Super Natural Rose" by Cheryl Maeder

Cheryl Maeder tells The Rickie Report, " I am a Fine Art Photographer and Video Installation creative person. The cadre of my work is about "connection"; the innate connectedness to the self, each other and to all other life forms on this planet.  I have made a career out of creating work that is the opposite of any trends. Celebrating the dazzler of women in all shapes and sizes, my photography work became the inspiration for the global Dove Campaign on 'Real Women, Existent Beauty', which transformed the fashion women are viewed in the global media today".

"Submerge Judith I" by Cheryl Maeder

"Submerge Judith Two" by Cheryl Maeder

Maeder goes to to explain, "When the trend in notwithstanding photography was hyper-definition, I photographed intentionally out of focus and abstract. Through my experimentation with new technologies, and shifting between the mediums, I am creating new opportunities for large scale public art installations.  I began "Super Natural" in March during the Covid19 pandemic. Fusing the natural earth with my inner world, I create visuals that are somewhere between reality and the sublime. I create both the photographs and film for this serial entirely on location working with the elements of wind and the natural calorie-free. The fog of color is created in each setting on location. As the color lifts and fades away, I am reminded of the impermanence of life".

"Conversation in Blue" by Sally Cooper

Sally Cooper tells The Rickie Report, " My creative journeying began at a young historic period. At that time I was simply interested in capturing an image or photo-likeness.  A big alter occurred in my work in 1980 when I was introduced to painting not-considerately in a Creative Watercolor workshop taught past Miles Batt.  A whole world opened and I was hooked!  I began to experiment in non-traditional ways with acrylics, gesso and diverse polymer mediums.  I besides became extremely interested in Asian calligraphy and sought out different books on the subject.  The powerful flying castor strokes, the splashes of fresh ink/paint and the spontaneous fluid movement have been influential and I began to incorporate my own personal calligraphy and marker-making into my paintings".

"Carmine Ginger" by Sally Cooper

Information technology has been about 40 years since Sally took that Creative Watercolor workshop and her piece of work today is near a creative process rather than a specific image or place.  She works intuitively and enjoys the straight experience of the fine art-making – the process, the spontaneity and surprise elements of painting.  Emerge shares her enthusiasm and noesis through classes and workshops (come across below).

"Everglades" by Sally Cooper

Emerge explains, "Starting with a primed large unstretched sail I build my abstracts layer by layer.  I starting time past placing triadic colors (iii hues, equally spaced on the colour bike), plus raw umber, white and black for tinting and shading the colors – mix a few together, catch a castor and so follow intuitive promptings and apply a big gestural linear mark or brushstroke that comes from deep inside.  These intuitive promptings are like a dance.  I quickly move back and along applying marks, keeping some, veiling over others, stepping back every so ofttimes, studying, looking, moving, deciding which marks to proceed and which marks to have away. This play or procedure continues until a painting evolves".

"Blueish Rhapsody" by Sally Cooper

Emerge's paintings take garnered many awards and much praise. Her work has been published in The Artist's Magazine ( First Place/2017/National competition for "Conversation in Blue"which was published in March 2018 outcome);Art Journey Abstract Painting, A Celebration of Contemporary Art (2017); Creative person's Magazine 2015 Cover image and feature article; Acrylic Creative person, Professional Artist and The Creative person'south Magazines.  She is a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society and a fellow member of Blush Paints Independent Pedagogy Programme for their Atelier Interactive acrylic paints and mediums.

Detailed information most the Convention and Merchandise Show likewise as opportunities to annals for critiques follows this interview of Iain Stewart by Lois Perdue

Iain Stewart

Iain Stewart by Lois Perdue

Iain Stewart shares, "Painting my reality is with lines and low-cal."  It is not only about how the calorie-free influences his paintings, only to the award-winning watercolor artist and architectural illustrator, it'due south about the lines, too.  Born in Glasgow, Scotland and raised in North Carolina and subsequently, Alabama since the age of six, Stewart holds numerous international awards, is a signature fellow member of the National and American Watercolor Societies and holds a degree in architecture.  For the offset time, Stewart, has been invited to exist i of three artists who will be teaching a iv-day workshop at this year'south Florida Watercolor Society (FWS) Convention & Trade Show. "I get a great deal of satisfaction teaching workshops," he said. "I tin can communicate my ideas both vocally and visually in a manner that volition, hopefully, remain with the artists and be repeatable past them."

"6th Street Train" by Iain Stewart

Now 46-years-old, Stewart was fortunate to take had a head get-go in the field of fine art. He grew upwards familiar with renderings and architectural drawings as his father, Muir Stewart, was a Professor of Architecture at Auburn University until he retired in 1987. In addition, the senior Stewart has been a watercolorist his entire life and still continues an active career as an architectural illustrator and artist.  "There is friendly competition betwixt us," said Stewart. Stewart, who volition likewise concur one-on-1 critiques during the convention weekend, said he learned some valuable lessons about critiquing fine art by example.

"My father has an uncanny ability to give scathing critiques, simply they are correct," he said. "What I practise so is, if information technology's fixable, I fix it, or I just commencement all over again" he said. "We at present critique each others' work which can become quite interesting at times."  Stewart says, however, his own critiques are gently delivered, besides productive and intended to help students learn.  "For myself, I like to use my ruined efforts to start the 'barbeque'," he said. "Successful paintings teach us very piffling. Information technology'southward the hand to the hot stove, the sting of the bee–the ruined painting that makes you look inward and seek out where you went wrong. I ask my students to create a written step-by-step process for a ruined painting—to go back and exercise a program, find a point of reference of where and why they did it. Then their job is to become back and rework information technology and try to avoid making the same mistake twice."

"Gothenburg" past Iain Stewart

Stewart, who has been published numerous times, most recently in Plein Air Mag, (Apr/ May Result) teaches both studio and plein air workshops on a regular basis throughout the Us and Europe. Other publications in which Stewart has been featured include Watercolor Artist, The Art of Watercolour, Southern Living, Cottage Living, Better Homes & Gardens, The Robb Report and the French publication Pratique des Arts. He also has a three-DVD set available through northlightshop.com. Always a watercolorist, Stewart enjoys the process of protecting light from the get-go. He admits his real struggle is to capture the initial vision.  "Yous take to see the works' glow from the start," he said.  Stewart added that he is most often motivated by capturing a definitive lighting status and how information technology influences shape and value rather than faithfully representing the subject every bit witnessed. "The lion'south share of my work is accomplished alla prima," said Stewart. "Watercolor is uniquely suited for the job of capturing light and must be preserved from the first castor strokes and protected throughout the painting process."

Watercolor by Iain Stewart

Stewart maintains a studio in Opelika, Alabama for his duo career every bit a fine art watercolorist alongside his 20-year career as an architectural illustrator with an international clientele. Stewart says he is hired to create scenes that showcase the designer'due south intentions in the best way possible. Clients have ranged from the Georgia State Capital to the Dublin Zoo. Once a twelvemonth he heads to his alma mater, Auburn University, where he is an adjunct professor, to teach a course called "Compages in Watercolor".  "The course I teach is reviving and combining the use of watercolor presentation in the historic period of figurer- dominated presentation techniques," Stewart said.

Stewart does agree that his fashion has inverse over the years and says it was gradual.  "I moved away from the tightness of my rendering style to a more expressive way of painting", he said. "My piece of work changes yearly and I noticed this when I began to focus more on my sketchbooks to bring the liveliness I experience when working in them to my studio work. It is less about accuracy and more virtually the feeling of being in a certain identify. I have moved in a more than painterly direction and continue to embrace the changes when they come. If I painted the aforementioned way yr subsequently yr my personal work would become dull very quickly to me. In architectural analogy it's all most the line work. When I paint for myself I never let a line tell me where to put my brush."

"Northward Queens Ferry" by Iain Stewart

Stewart says he ruins more paintings when working on something new equally his way changes just there is a benefit in that.  "That means I am on to something new and to follow it as far equally it will take me. You would be surprised at how many people think that in one case you lot begin receiving awards, jurying, and getting into major publications that yous somehow terminate creating works that are not up to your idea of what constitutes a good painting," he said.  To achieve the uniquely dramatic, sometimes moody strokes in his laurels-winning paintings, Stewart says he often uses imagined atmospheric and lighting weather in his work and paints from both life and imagination.  "Watercolors are not only a translation of what I see, but more importantly, an expression of how I choose to view the world," he shares.  As for his workshop teaching way, he believes that some students struggle, but Stewart takes delight in this.  "It is those times when they see the larger flick and have i of those "ah ha moments" and not just see the technical side of the demonstration," he said.  "A lite comes into their optics and smiles announced on their faces and that is priceless to me," he said. "Information technology'south the moment of understanding and it'south a wonderful thing to run across and be part of."
